Strong North West Coast paddler Luke O'Geary has just signed on as a Stellar sponsored athlete and will paddle the new Stellar SEL Excel for 2012. Luke's sponsorship is a significant leap forward for Tasmanian paddling and will hopefully pave the way for more top flight paddlers to receive some support from other Ocean Ski manufacturers.

Luke is fired up at the moment and is keen to get the 11kg SEL to the front of the field as much as possible in the coming races. Luke and I paddled the SEL's on Saturday with a nice easy 14km down the river. On the return leg we managed to grab the wash of an old converted fishing boat. Luke was doing wash leads around the boat while it sat on 7knts and was impressed with the boats stability and acceleration. He then took it home to Wynyard and did some interval efforts and txt me afterwards. "Did 12 x 5 min efforts with 1 min break between.. ski feels great...Was some runs and picks them up so easy...very happy with it. Can't wait to get in in some big swell."
Congratulations Luke and good on Stellar for getting behind a local paddler.
Marty Stephenson paddled the SEL sport version last night in the twilight race and was second. He was very impressed with the boats stability and even managed 18.5km/h top speed for the race. Come and check them out at the Come and Try Day this Sunday.
