Southern Paddlers - Summer Series Races 5 & 6

Results have been posted. I'll do a description of the races this week, but not a lot of wind!

Big Thanks to: Greg and Tim in the Safety Boat, Su and Pandora on the Timing, Cooka for bringing his boat, Mel for cooking the snags and burgers on Sat evening, the competitors and all the families and kids who would be soundly sleeping by now.

Weather Update (15/2)

Forecast is for S-SE (sat) N-NE (sun). It is likely all races on Sat will be start and finish in Adventure Bay.

A Festival of Paddling

Two - Three races a day
Individual Summer Series races x 2
Team race & Handicapped team race
Relay, triangle and downwind course options
100% entry fees will be awarded as prizes (minus BBQ cost)

Race Meeting Point

10:30am Adventure Bay Community Park (located next to the shop)
- if you are on the 9:30 ferry you will get there in time.

Race Courses (possible locations subject to weather conditions)

Adventure Bay, Alonnah, Great Bay, Neck Beach

Safe (achievable) courses will be set for all Division 2 races – inshore or close to land

Weekend Timetable (flexible based on weather conditions)

Race 1: Sat February 18: 11:00am Short Course Downwind – Individuals two divisions

Race 2: Sat February 18: 1:00pm Team Race (teams of two, self-assigned teams)

Race 3: Sat February 18: 3:30pm Summer Series Race 5 – Individuals

BBQ: Sat February 18: 5:00pm Adventure Bay Community Park
(Sausages/Hamburgers/Bread/Sauce/Beer provided)

Race 4: Sun February 19: 10:00am Handicap Team Race (teams of three, organiser-assigned teams)

Race 5: Sun February 19: 12:00am Novelty Team Race (will include water dismount and remount…)

Race 6: Sun February 19: 2:00pm Summer Series Race 6 – Individuals

Entry Fee

$50 – covers all races and includes Sat afternoon BBQ (sausage/burger in bread)

Ferry Timetable

*On weekends the ferry does not generally run to the timetable, it will leave when full. To guarantee you make the first race you should arrive by 8:30am for the 9:30am departure, or come over the night before.

Departs Kettering: 7:45am, 9:30am, 11:05am
Departs Bruny: 3:15pm, 4:30pm, 5:30pm
